We all want to make sustainable skin care choices, especially now that we are becoming collectively more aware of the impact these choices have on the environment. But between greenwashing products with misleading labels to confusing ingredients that can cause more harm than good, making sustainable choices can be difficult.

Skincare products have an especially notorious reputation for using harmful plastics, toxic ingredients, and wasteful packaging. We want to make it easy for you to ensure you’re getting sustainably-produced skincare by creating our own high standards and being transparent in the process. Simply put, we want our products to be beneficial for everyone—mother nature included!

How do we do it?

For starters, we are very conscientious in how we choose to formulate our products. We carefully select our ingredients based on whether or not they are beneficial to the skin, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly.

Zeenon does not use any of the following ingredients:

● Parabens
● Phthalates
● Perfume and Artificial Fragrances
● Silicones
● EDTA
● Mineral Oils
● PEG

In addition to being less than ideal for the skin and harmful to the environment, many of these ingredients are endocrine disruptors, also known as xenoestrogens, that mimic the body’s natural production of estrogen. When xenoestrogens enter the body they can cause a hormonal imbalance resulting in too much estrogen that throws our body’s own natural functions off balance.

Zeenon products are also free of synthetic preservatives and acrylates which can be sources of microplastics and harm the environment. And of course, we are vegan and cruelty-free, with Leaping Bunny and PETA certifications.

We have approval from the Environmental Working Group (also known as the EWG), the world’s leading nonprofit and nonpartisan activist organization dedicated to safe and healthy living for people and the planet. With cutting-edge research and a team of dedicated scientists, the EWG only grants its approval to products that pass its rigorous testing and guidelines.

We don't like plastic and use it as little as possible in our packaging. We also want to keep our special formula in the best possible condition to maintain its chemical integrity. For Xenon, the best solution is aluminum tubes because they are produced in energy-efficient factories and can be fully recycled.

We chose aluminum as it is one of the most recycled (and recyclable!) materials in the world in use today, surpassing all other packaging when it comes to sustainability. A piece of aluminum can be recycled directly back into itself infinitely, in fact nearly 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use!
